As a person with Short Stature (Dwarfism) I have an unusual perspective of the world. I also have the unique opportunity to photograph the lives of others just like myself. A Golden Moment Exhibition
“This exhibition is an opportunity to educate the general public that short statured people can do anything including play elite sport”. This exhibition commemorates the achievements of Team Australia at the 2013 World Dwarf Games in Michigan, USA. Coppolino, who is a short statured athlete herself, approached the task of photographing these unique athletes by drawing on her own artistic and sporting experience.
She worked closely with Ali Ryan, an average height photographer, to document the Games from their own very different vantage points and experience.
Coppolino, a two time veteran of the World Dwarf Games, was determined to photograph the Games as both a creative and advocacy tool.
As a longtime advocate for people with a disability, Coppolino is passionate about short statured people taking their equal place alongside all members of the community. This means equality of opportunity and acknowledgment of achievement.

A Silent Tears Exhibition
Australian Council of the Arts funded this project in 2015. Silent Tears is three artist’s exploration of 12 women’s stories using a variety of photographic techniques and multi-media. Led by Mason, and supported by artists Dieter Kiernan (video) and Margherita Coppolino (documentary photography), audiences are immersed in the participant’s experiences to stimulate a deeper understanding of the diversity of violence, discrimination and survival
